WHAT IS OUR BUSINESS?
Located in Protea Glen, an urban neighbourhood in Soweto is a first of its kind in the township. The farm is operated by South Africa’s National Sportsman in Fishing Lufuno Sylvester Mamathuntsha. Our first farming project is focused on catfish farming. We aim to introduce catfish farming communities as a meat alternative and an opportunity for start-up farmers who are members and seek collective support.
WHAT IS AQUAPONIC HYDROPONIC FARMING?
Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture. (raising aquatic animals such as fish, crayfish, snails or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water).
